THE PEACE OF GOD
ISAIAH 26:1-21
TEXT VERSES 3 & 12
INTRODUCTION:
-Isaiah is called a Messianic Prophet.
-Isaiah is quoted more times in the NT than any other Prophet.
-Isaiah chapter 26, is Isaiah#SYMBOL \f "WP TypographicSymbols"61s Song of Trust and Triumph.
-There are two kinds of peace found in the Bible.
1. Peace with God 2. Peace of God.
-Peace with God is found in Romans 5:1,2-
Rom 5:1-2
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
-Peace of God is found in Phil. 4:6,7 and in Isa. 26:3
Phil 4:6-7
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Isa 26:3
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
-You can have both kinds of peace at the same time.
-But you cannot have the Peace of God without having Peace with God.
-But on the other hand, many have the Peace with God, but they do not have the Peace of God.
-Two questions this morning, 1. Do you have Peace with God? 2. Do you have the Peace
Of God?
-There are many examples of both in the Bible.
-Paul spoke of both in 2 Tim. 1:12,
2 Tim 1:12
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
-Other examples of Peace with God and Peace of God, are Joseph, Daniel in the Lions Den,
Hebrew Children in the Firery Furnace, Peter in Prison, and Paul and his shipwreck and etc.
-Your question might be this morning, How can I have the perfect Peace of God, that will
keep me from worrying, being anxious, or looking ahead with fear?
-There are at least five things that you and I must do to have the peace of God.
I. WE MUST HAVE PEACE WITH GOD.
